Park is a FOUR letter word.

Park is a four letter word that earned a nastier and uglier meaning. It means rent-a-car in England. When you want to park it you cant find a spot and when you find a spot its now where near where you want it to be. First it was the British museum and we thought after seven times around the London Bridge would fall down. Then it was Stradford upon avon, car parks everywhere except near the theater. So wise men learn from their mistakes. The Schwarz family is wise, we see a sign for Hampton Court, we see a sign for parking, this must be it! Parking and an attraction together!! Halleujiah!

In England, close means the same county. After having had another wonderful breakfast we arrived at Hampton Court. We arrived at the parking lot at 11:09 but didn’t get to the palace until 11:45! That is not close parking. Needless to say the two hour parking was not going to last our visit. So Scott and Dwight went off in search of coins. Of which there was no ATM in the whole attraction. Sending them on a while goose chase. Which brings us to the next four letter words, walk and cold.

Meanwhile the girls explored the inside of the palace. Touring the private apartments of King William and King Henry VIII. They even met with King Henry and listened in on the private counsils meeting.

Caitie participating in the council meeting, sitting in the Kings chair.

We toured the kitchen and learned about cooking for 600 people. This fountain above was called the Wine Fountain that would pour out wine instead of water on special ocassions.

Caitie and Launnies then wanted to go see the private palace garden. Leaving Dwight in the court yard they took off. They found the gardens but the only way to access them was to leave the palace grounds. When we tried to explain to the ticket lady that their tickets had been left with Dwight inside she would not allow them back in to get them. So now they had to find their own exit through the palace gardens in order to get back to Dwight.

The last stop of the day was the grounds Maze of the palace.

Now we have returned our car. Ridden the “tube” with ALL our luggage and checked in to our not so great hotel. Time for a well deserved break from the day!

Till next time, Cheerio!

  2. Ha, ha, now you know why people take Tour Buses. They get dropped at the door and picked up at the door. Oh well, you are getting your exercise! Looks like your weather is as cheery as ours. Looking forward to some warm next week in Hawaii. Happy travels.
